4 injured when police chase turns into crash in intersection

Sometimes, police pursuits are necessary. Officers may be trying to get a dangerous driver off the road or working hard to limit how many people are put at risk by barricading certain exits or roadways.

Unfortunately, people can get hurt if a pursuit goes too far. That’s what happened in a case in Kansas City, where the police stated that there was a significant crash in a local intersection at around 11:30 p.m.

The police had been trying to stop a Chevrolet Malibu that was of interest in connection to a local burglary. When the driver didn’t stop, this started a pursuit heading east near East 62nd Street and Indiana Avenue. It was there that the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a Dodge Durango with two people inside.

Following this crash, a female passenger in the Durango requires medical care for serious injuries, but the driver refused treatment. Two people in the Chevrolet were taken to a local hospital, but one person did flee the scene and hadn’t yet been found.

In situations like this, even the best intentions can end up leading to a series of unfortunate events. People who have nothing to do with a police chase can end up involved when they become the reason that the chase ends.

If you or a loved one has been hit by a speeding vehicle, someone who has run a stop sign or red light or as a result of a police chase that went wrong, it is important to know that you have the right to seek compensation for your injuries.
